Robust & durable

Deerskin – lightweight, vibrant, durable.

Traditional chamois tanning makes the leather exceptionally durable, yet remarkably light and velvety soft – almost like a fabric. It is one of the oldest and most environmentally friendly tanning methods known. A true chamois leather needs time to mature, much like a fine whiskey. The natural markings of the hides are preserved. Scars tell stories from the deer's wild life and are authenticity marks of the leather. … naturally leather!

Naturally Deerskin!

Naturally tanned – Distinctly different. Chamois-tanned deerskin only needs time, not chemicals.

Deerskin – Piping. Traditional incorporation of undyed deer or fawn leather piping sets accents and protects the seams. The piping is precisely sewn between the leather pieces and gives each bag in our Wildwuchs collection its unmistakable design element.

Open-edge craftsmanship. In selected areas of our deerskin bags, the hides are processed with open edges. This highlights the precise craftsmanship of the tanner. The natural color of the leather’s underside becomes visible through this technique. The surface color is achieved by brushing natural pigments onto the leather by hand.

Material combination. In select models of the Wildwuchs collection, we create a distinctive design element by combining chamois-tanned deerskin with olive leaf-tanned cowhide.

Germany’s last traditional chamois tanning workshop.

Traditional chamois tanning differs significantly from conventional methods
and is among the most environmentally friendly tanning processes in the world.

  • Over 300 manual steps and one year until the deerskin is fully processed
  • Cod liver oil as tanning agent, mechanically worked into the leather
  • The leather is hand-sanded, leveled, dyed with natural pigments, and polished
  • Hides are soaked in the ‘Gerberbach’ stream in Biberach — a unique, authorized method in Europe

Patina

Your bag gains character.

Patina – perhaps the most distinctive feature of fine leather. It is unpredictable and develops slowly and steadily over time. It reflects the experiences you share with it. In areas of heavy use, it becomes more pronounced. Gradually, your bag becomes uniquely yours — a true reflection of your journey and a personal companion.
