Olivenleder® & Softnappa
Leather lore
The material of our olive leather and soft nappa bags is aniline leather. Aniline leathers are leathers dyed through with tar dyes (organic dyes) in the barrel. They are open-pore smooth leathers without a pigment layer (dye layer) on top. The surface structure of each hide becomes clear, they are soft to touch and are considered very valuable leathers. Initially, the leather may discolor, especially in connection with moisture. With further use, patina develops - a change in the surface and coloration, depending on the usage pattern and age of the bag. Over time, the pores close, it can absorb less moisture and release color.
Care instructions
Basically, as a natural product, leather will change.
Leather does not need much care:
- dust is simply removed with a soft brush or cloth.
- when wet, the product should be air dried slowly (not on the heater). Excess water should be dabbed dry with a cloth in advance. The bag will be a little stiff after drying, but will regain its suppleness with further use.
- Use only high quality leather care products.
- Care with leather wax or leather oil should always be tried on a concealed area, the rule is 'less is more'.
- In case of heavy soiling, a specialized company should be consulted.
Deerskin old chamois
Leather lore
The old chamois tanning process makes the leather hard-wearing, yet extraordinarily light and velvety soft - like a cloth. It is one of the oldest and at the same time most environmentally friendly tanning processes ever. A genuine chamois leather must mature, comparable to a fine whiskey. The natural characteristics of the hides are preserved. Scarring tells stories from the wild life of the deer and are authenticity features of the leather. ... natural leather !
Initially, the leather may stain slightly, especially in connection with moisture. The dye in the chamois tanning is purely vegetable. The natural dyes are brushed in by hand, which means that depending on the nature of the hide, the color is absorbed differently. This process is both unique and very environmentally friendly. With continued use, patina develops - a change in the surface and coloration, depending on the usage pattern and age of the bag. The color changes are characteristic of deerskin and are highly appreciated by connoisseurs of this material. Over time, the pores close, it can absorb less moisture and release color.
